The 31-year-old was added by the White Sox after the Boston Red Sox designated him for assignment on August 11, a decision made just as the team needed to clear a roster spot for Adley Rutschman’s return.
What makes the story especially notable is that the catcher was hardly given enough time to prove himself in Boston, even though what he showed in the limited opportunities he received was quite positive.
The player in question is Jake Rogers, the veteran catcher who found a new home in Chicago just days after being removed from the Red Sox roster.
