Adam Schefter Confirms, One of the Most Athletic Quarterbacks in NFL History with 10,401 Yards and 73 Touchdowns in His Career Is Heading to Los Angeles on a $34 Million Contract

LOS ANGELES, California — The Los Angeles Rams are showing they are not satisfied with their current quarterback depth.

In an effort to strengthen their offensive depth and provide absolute support for Matthew Stafford in the 2026 season, the team's leadership is quickly pursuing a high-quality addition at the quarterback position.

Multiple sources around the league report that discussions between Los Angeles and the Indianapolis Colts have been taking place for several weeks.

The name standing out most prominently in all the talks is Anthony Richardson.

According to the latest reports, the Rams are very close to finalizing a deal to bring the former No. 4 overall pick from the 2023 Draft to SoFi Stadium on a contract with a total value of 34 million dollars.

If the agreement is completed, Richardson will take on the backup role for Matthew Stafford but will still be viewed as a high-potential long-term option for the organization.

Sources indicate Los Angeles is expected to send the Colts a fourth-round pick in 2027 along with a seventh-round pick in 2028 in exchange for the rights to this talented quarterback.

What is noteworthy is the impact on the Rams' salary cap in the 2026 season is projected to be just under 5.4 million dollars.

That is a figure considered very reasonable for a player once regarded as one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks of his generation.

At 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 244 pounds, Richardson possesses a rare skill set for the modern quarterback position.

His acceleration, muscular power, and throwing velocity once led many experts to compare him to the most elite athletes ever to appear at the NFL Combine.

In his professional and college career, Richardson has accumulated a total of more than 10,401 yards along with 73 touchdowns.

Those numbers clearly reflect his ability to create explosive plays with both his arm and his legs.

In addition to the overall statistics, Richardson also owns several notable milestones in the early stages of his career.

He once became the youngest quarterback in NFL history to score two rushing touchdowns in the same game.

He was also the first rookie quarterback to score a rushing touchdown in each of his first three consecutive starts.

At Florida, Richardson once earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Davey O'Brien Award Quarterback of the Week honors.

Those accomplishments helped make him one of the most sought-after quarterbacks ahead of the 2023 Draft.

Inside Sean McVay's system, many experts believe Richardson will have the ideal environment to continue refining his ability to read defenses and develop his passing skills.

Matthew Stafford remains the centerpiece of the long-term plan in Los Angeles, but adding a player with special talent like Richardson provides important insurance for the team.

For the Colts, this deal opens the opportunity to restructure the roster and add more Draft capital for future plans.

The expert community evaluates this as a transaction that could benefit both organizations if all final terms are completed.

Currently, both sides are continuing to work on finalizing the remaining details before making an official announcement.

If the deal is confirmed in the coming days, the Rams could have found the perfect piece to bolster their quarterback room, while also acquiring one of the most athletically exciting talents in the NFL today.

Former Patriots Wide Receiver Begs For A Second Chance In Los Angeles As The Rams Seek Additional Offensive Depth To Complete The NFL’s Most Explosive Offense Around Matthew Stafford
LOS ANGELES, California — As the Los Angeles Rams continue pursuing a Super Bowl championship during the final years of Matthew Stafford’s career, team leadership remains focused on finding additional quality options to strengthen offensive depth. Although the Rams already possess standout playmakers such as Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, many analysts believe the team could still benefit from adding another experienced wide receiver to ensure stability throughout the season. That need has created an opportunity for a familiar name on the free agent market, Stefon Diggs, who recently parted ways with the New England Patriots. According to multiple reports, Diggs is especially interested in the possibility of joining Los Angeles and is believed to be highly intrigued by the opportunity to play under Sean McVay. In a recent statement, Diggs did not hide his admiration for the Rams and especially veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford. "Matthew Stafford is one of the greatest quarterbacks of his generation and someone I have always respected. The opportunity to line up alongside a player like him is something every receiver dreams about. If Los Angeles gives me that opportunity, I will do everything I can to help this team win and compete for a championship." Despite turning 32 years old, Diggs continued to display impressive consistency during the 2025 season. While playing for the Patriots, he recorded 85 receptions and 1,013 receiving yards, once again proving his ability to be a reliable target in critical moments. Diggs' high level experience is also one of the reasons he remains attractive to teams with championship aspirations. Throughout his NFL career, Diggs has earned four Pro Bowl selections and produced multiple seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards. His precise route running, ability to create separation, and skill in reading defensive coverages have long been among the veteran star’s greatest strengths. For the Rams, adding Diggs would be about more than simply signing another wide receiver. It would also provide an opportunity to bring in a player who has delivered in big games throughout his career and possesses the ability to make a difference in critical situations. Within Sean McVay’s offensive system, a player with Diggs’ ability to consistently create separation could serve as a perfect complement to Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, and the rest of the team’s offensive weapons. More importantly, Diggs’ arrival would provide another dependable target for Matthew Stafford in key moments. The Rams are entering the season with enormous expectations following several significant roster upgrades over the past months. For that reason, adding another experienced receiver could move the team one step closer to returning to the Super Bowl. At this time, no official agreement has been reached between the two sides. However, Stefon Diggs publicly expressing interest in joining Los Angeles has already generated considerable discussion throughout the NFL community. If a deal is eventually completed, the Rams would add one of the league’s most experienced wide receivers and provide Matthew Stafford with another elite weapon as he pursues one more Super Bowl championship.
