GREEN BAY, Wisconsin — What initially appeared to be promising discussions about a long-term contract has unexpectedly taken a turn for the Green Bay Packers and star tight end Tucker Kraft.
The Packers entered the offseason with Tucker Kraft as one of the top priorities for a contract extension, aiming to lock in one of their most dangerous offensive weapons before training camp begins. However, negotiations have dragged on without a breakthrough.

According to sources, Kraft has decided to part ways with his longtime agent after becoming frustrated with the slow progress.
The negotiations stalled mainly because demands from the former agent wanted to place Kraft among the highest-paid tight ends in the NFL.
Although the Packers highly value Kraft as a foundational piece of the offense, they considered the initial demands too high compared to the current market situation and the team's salary cap.
As a result, negotiations have made almost no progress despite both sides expressing a strong desire to reach an agreement.
Many in the league view the change of agent as a strategic move to restart negotiations before training camp opens. The new representative is expected to take over soon, bringing a more realistic approach.
Since being drafted in 2023, the former Florida star has risen to become one of the most promising young tight ends in the NFL. Kraft has been a reliable target for Jordan Love, excelling in both receiving and blocking roles.
Despite missing significant time due to an ACL injury in 2025, he remains a cornerstone in the Packers' offensive identity — standing out with his ability to gain yards after the catch, physical strength, and leadership role in the locker room.
Despite the recent tension, optimism remains high within the organization. GM Brian Gutekunst has a strong track record of completing contract extensions with key players at the end of the offseason or early in the regular season.
Internal sources continue to believe that a long-term agreement is very likely to happen, considering Kraft an essential part of the team's core alongside Christian Watson and Jayden Reed.
The 25-year-old tight end has also recently clearly expressed his desire to stay with the Packers long-term. With the new representative taking over, the focus now is on whether the two sides can narrow the gap and finalize a deal worthy of Kraft's value while fitting Green Bay's long-term plans.
Both the team and the player are eager to resolve the issue soon, ensuring Tucker Kraft continues to be a central figure in the Packers' offense for many years to come.
