Just 3 hours after the blockbuster signing of Greg Van Roten, beloved promising TE — Patriots’ versatile former standout quietly delivers an emotional farewell message to New England: “I will always be proud that I was once a part of the Patriots”

Foxborough, Massachusetts — Just hours after the New England Patriots completed the signing of veteran offensive lineman Greg Van Roten to strengthen their offensive depth, the organization once again experienced an emotional moment.

While Patriots fans were still discussing the arrival of an experienced player and the impact he could bring to the 2026 roster, attention unexpectedly shifted toward a young player who had earned appreciation inside the New England locker room.

It marked the moment when a promising tight end quietly closed the chapter of his journey with the Patriots and began searching for a new opportunity in his NFL career.

The player being discussed was Mitch Van Vooren, who had been viewed as one of New England’s promising young talents because of his versatility, unique athletic ability, and relentless competitive spirit.

The Patriots’ decision to waive Van Vooren following the signing of Greg Van Roten quickly created reactions throughout the fanbase.

Many understood that the team needed to make roster adjustments to remain within the offseason roster limit while preparing for the final 53-man roster decisions. However, saying goodbye to a young player who had once carried expectations still left a feeling of disappointment.

During his time in New England, Van Vooren was valued for his ability to adapt and his professionalism during every practice session.

Unlike many traditional tight ends, he possessed a unique physical foundation after previously being an outstanding hurdler, bringing rare speed and movement ability to his position.

Before entering the NFL, Van Vooren made his mark at St. Norbert College with an impressive 2024 season, recording 33 receptions, 510 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns, earning him a selection to the First-Team All-NACC.

Although he did not receive many opportunities to showcase himself in official NFL games, he still earned respect from those who followed his development.

After learning that he was no longer part of the Patriots’ current roster plans, Van Vooren was reportedly said to have sent an emotional message to the New England community.

"THE LOVE, TRUST, AND SUPPORT THAT ALL OF YOU HAVE GIVEN ME WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE MOST UNFORGETTABLE PARTS OF MY CAREER. IF LIFE EVER BRINGS ME BACK TO New England ONE DAY, I WILL GIVE EVERYTHING I HAVE. NO MATTER WHERE I GO, I WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD TO HAVE BEEN PART OF THE Patriots."

That message quickly received support from Patriots fans.

Many supporters shared that although Van Vooren did not have the opportunity to become a star in Foxborough, his effort and professional attitude were qualities worth recognizing.

From the Patriots’ perspective, the decision to move on from Van Vooren does not reflect a lack of belief in his potential, but rather the result of intense competition within the roster.

The arrival of Greg Van Roten gives New England additional experience on the offensive line, while the current tight end group featuring Hunter Henry, Eli Raridon, and other young talents has gained an advantage in the roster competition.

However, the story of Mitch Van Vooren remains a reminder that an NFL journey is not determined only by talent, but also by timing, opportunity, and the difficult decisions made by organizations.

For Van Vooren, his chapter in New England has come to an end.

But the appreciation from those who watched him compete in a Patriots uniform remains unchanged, along with the hope that one day he will have another opportunity to return to the NFL and continue proving his value.

Because sometimes, the most memorable farewells do not come from the biggest superstars, but from players who leave their mark through dedication, competitive spirit, and the pride of wearing the uniform of one of the NFL’s most respected franchises.

TWO of the New England Patriots’ top superstars have expressed disrespect toward head coach Mike Vrabel and are demanding “answers” from him regarding the Dianna Russini scandal
New England is facing growing internal tension as questions surrounding leadership and accountability begin to surface inside the locker room ahead of a critical offseason period. Sources across the league indicate that frustration is quietly building among key veterans who expect transparency and clarity from those guiding the organization forward. The situation escalated following a widely discussed controversy involving the head coach and a high profile media figure, drawing attention beyond football circles. Mike Vrabel now finds himself at the center of scrutiny as players and insiders monitor how he responds to mounting pressure. According to internal NFL sources, two of the team’s most respected leaders have expressed disappointment and concerns about respect and accountability within the organization. Those leaders have been identified as Hunter Henry and Morgan Moses, both viewed as voices of authority inside the locker room. Their concerns are not rooted in speculation alone, but in how the situation has been handled publicly and internally since the controversy first emerged. The issue stems from photos that surfaced showing Vrabel in close interaction with reporter Dianna Russini at a private resort gathering. Both Vrabel and Russini have denied any inappropriate relationship, stating the images were taken out of context during a group setting with friends. Despite those denials, backlash has intensified, with criticism spreading rapidly across social media and within segments of the football community. The controversy took another turn when Russini resigned from The Athletic on April fourteenth amid an internal investigation into the situation. In her resignation letter, she rejected what she described as a constructed narrative and emphasized that she would not allow the situation to define her career. Still, the fallout has not subsided, and attention has shifted toward how the Patriots organization will address the issue moving forward. Veteran voices within the team believe that silence could be interpreted as avoidance, creating a potential disconnect between leadership and players. According to NBC Sports Boston reporter Michael Holley, a former player indicated that the locker room will demand answers directly from Vrabel. Players are said to expect honesty and accountability, rather than a situation where leadership addresses media questions differently than internal concerns. For a team built on discipline and culture, the perception of double standards could create long term challenges if not addressed directly. Vrabel’s credibility, according to sources, may depend on his willingness to confront the issue openly and communicate with his roster. The timing adds complexity, with the NFL Draft approaching and critical roster decisions already underway within the organization. Ultimately, how this situation is handled may define not only internal trust but also the broader perception of leadership within New England moving forward.
